On Tuesday, Stellantis (NYSE:STLA) mapped out its software strategy to deploy next-generation tech platforms and generate approximately EUR4 billion by 2025 and EUR20 billion in incremental annual revenues by 2030.

This strategy will build on existing connected vehicle capabilities to transform how consumers interact with their vehicles.

The transformation will shift Stellantis’ vehicles from today’s dedicated architectures to an open software-defined platform that will easily integrate with customers’ digital lives.

Stellantis will provide customers with the ability to tailor their vehicles to individual needs and desires and increase the unique qualities of the diverse brands within Stellantis through OTA (over-the-air) updates.

Year to date, the company has delivered over 6 million OTA updates to its vehicles and intends to offer at least quarterly releases by 2026.

The group further said it expects partnerships with Taiwan’s Foxconn to be finalized by the end of the year and has entered a new preliminary agreement with Foxconn for an additional partnership in semiconductors.

Three all-new AI-powered technology platforms will be deployed by Stellantis at scale starting in 2024 and will be named Brain, STLA SmartCockpit, and STLA Autodrive.

The software strategy works in conjunction with Stellantis’ electrification plans targeting more than 70% of its vehicle sales in Europe and more than 40% of vehicle sales in the United States to be low-emission vehicles by 2030.

It plans to invest more the EUR30 to execute its software and electrification transformation through 2025.

Stellantis CEO, Carlos Tavares said, “With the three all-new AI-powered technology platforms to arrive in 2024, deployed across the four STLA vehicle platforms, we will leverage the speed and agility associated with the decoupling of hardware and software cycles.”

The Netherlands-based company expects to have 34 million monetizable software-connected cars globally by 2030, up nearly triple from its current 12 million.
